Western blot analysis was performed on Whole cell extracts (30 µg lysate) of HEK-293 (Lane 1), A549 (Lane 2), SH-SY5Y (Lane 3), PC12 (Lane 4), A-431 (Lane 5), HL-60 (Lane 6), Jurkat (Lane 7), NIH/3T3 (Lane 8) and HeLa (Lane 9). CDK5RAP2 is a regulator of CDK5 (cyclin-dependent kinase 5) activity. The protein is localized to the centrosome and Golgi complex and interacts with CDK5R1 and pericentrin (PCNT). CDK5RAP2 plays a role in centriole engagement and microtubule nucleation, and has been linked to primary microcephaly and Alzheimer's disease. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.
