PA1-21011 detects Dystrophin in Human, Mouse and Rat samples.
PA1-21011 has been successfully used in Immunohistochemistry (Frozen), Immunohistochemistry (Paraffin) immunocytochemistry, immunofluorescence, and Western Blot procedures. Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires boiling tissue sections in 1 mM EDTA, pH 8.0 for 10 minutes followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes. Positive control of skeletal muscle suggested. Molecular weight of 427 kDa is expected.
PA1-21011 immunogen corresponds to a synthetic peptide corresponding to C-terminal of human Dystrophin.
Dystrophin is the 427kDa protein product of the DMB/BMD gene located on the X chromosome at position Xp21. Western blotting and immunohistochemistry are the two established methods for the detection of abnormalities of dystrophin expression in muscle biopsies. Dystrophin abnormalities are thought to occur in 100% of patients with DMD/BMD, although genetic abnormalities may only be detected in up to 65% of cases.
