Fenoxanil is a chiral amide fungicide primarily used to combat rice blast disease. It consists of two enantiomeric pairs, which can be separated using ultrahigh-performance liquid chromatography coupled with tandem mass spectrometry. Due to its poor water solubility, fenoxanil is often loaded into mesoporous silica nanoparticles to enhance delivery and efficacy in plants. These nanoparticles, with an average size of 258 nm, improve the uptake and distribution of fenoxanil within plant tissues, thereby increasing its fungicidal activity. The structure of these nanocarriers is typically analyzed using scanning electron microscopy to ensure proper formulation and functionality.
