Fenoxaprop-P-ethyl is a post-emergence aryloxyphenoxy propionate (AOPP) herbicide primarily used in agriculture to inhibit acetyl-CoA carboxylase (ACCase), thereby obstructing de novo fatty acid synthesis in weeds, leading to necrosis and plant death. The resistance mechanism in weeds to ACCase inhibitors like fenoxaprop-P-ethyl has been linked to specific amino acid substitutions in the CT structural domain. Additionally, the overexpression of GT8 in yeast has been shown to decrease sensitivity to fenoxaprop-P-ethyl, indicating its potential role in herbicide metabolism. Fenoxaprop-P-ethyl undergoes microbial metabolism in natural soil, with degradation following first-order kinetics, especially when amended with biochar, which affects its fate and toxicity.
