Store lyophilized/reconstituted at -20°C; once reconstituted make aliquots to avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Please remember to spin the tubes briefly prior to opening them to avoid any losses that might occur from material adhering to the cap or sides of the tube.
For reconstitution add 50 µL of sterile water.
Specific Species Reactivity: Chlamydomonas reinhardtii
GPXH encodes a glutathione peroxidase-homologous, thioredoxin-dependent peroxidase that functions in the cellular defense against photooxidative stress in the green alga Chlamydomonas reinhardtii, with expression strongly and rapidly induced by singlet oxygen generated during high-light and photosensitizer exposure. The GPXH protein is predicted to be dual-targeted, localizing to both the chloroplast and the cytoplasm, consistent with a role in detoxifying reactive oxygen species and protecting membranes in multiple compartments. Functionally, GPXH catalyzes the reduction of hydrogen peroxide and organic (including lipid) hydroperoxides, using thioredoxin as the electron donor (and showing activity with plastidic TRXy as well as cytosolic TRXh1), thereby limiting hydroperoxide accumulation that can otherwise drive oxidative damage during photoinhibition.
