HYB 131-14-02 is specific for human MBL from plasma or serum, but cross-reacts strongly with MBL from horse and swine.
HYB 131-14-02 has been successfully used in ELISA and Western blotting procedures. HYB 131-14-02 reacts strongly with horse and swine serum, when captured on an mannan coat in ELISA.
The HYB 131-14-02 immunogen is human MBL.
NOTE: Concentration is lot-dependent and can vary from 0.85-1.15 mg/mL
MBL2 is a calcium-dependent lectin involved in innate immune defense. It binds mannose, fucose and N-acetylglucosamine on different microorganisms and activates the lectin complement pathway. It also binds to late apoptotic cells, as well as to apoptotic blebs and to necrotic cells, but not to early apoptotic cells, facilitating their uptake by macrophages. MBL2 may bind DNA.
