Neisseria meningitidis adhesin A also known as NadA is a trimeric autotransporter adhesin protein found on the surface of N. meningitidis a bacterium responsible for meningitis and sepsis. NadA facilitates the bacterium's adhesion to human epithelial cells a critical step in colonization and invasion. Its structure includes a globular N-terminal head domain essential for binding a coiled-coil stalk and a C-terminal membrane anchor. Due to its role in pathogenesis and its surface exposure NadA is considered a promising target for vaccine development against meningococcal disease.
