Store lyophilized/reconstituted at -20°C; once reconstituted make aliquots to avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Please remember to spin the tubes briefly prior to opening them to avoid any losses that might occur from material adhering to the cap or sides of the tube.
For reconstitution add 50 µL of sterile water.
Specific Species Reactivity: Nicotiana tabacum
PLGG1 encodes a nucleus-encoded chloroplast protein that is targeted to the plastid and functions as an integral component of the chloroplast envelope membrane, consistent with a role in metabolite exchange between the chloroplast and the cytosol during photorespiration. Genetic and physiological analyses support that PLGG1 is required for the core photorespiratory cycle: loss of PLGG1 causes strong growth defects in ambient air that are rescued by elevated carbon dioxide, alongside accumulation of the photorespiratory intermediates glycolate and glycerate, indicating impaired transport of these metabolites across the chloroplast envelope. Functionally, PLGG1 acts as a plastidic glycolate/glycerate transporter, enabling the export/import steps necessary to couple chloroplast reactions to downstream peroxisomal and mitochondrial photorespiratory metabolism and thereby sustaining efficient photosynthetic carbon flux under normal atmospheric conditions.
