Reconstitute lyophilized product with 1 mL distilled water.
PRO225 antibody reacts specifically with P. jiroveci (P. carinii) pneumonia, staining cysts as well as trophozoite present in biopsy material, bronchial lavage and induced sputum samples. For bronchial lavage and induced sputum samples pretreatment of samples with 0.3% dithiothreitol or sputolysin is recommended. In Western blotting analysis the antibody identifies 2 antigens at 65/67 kD of P. jiroveci (P. carinii). The antibody is also reactive with P. jiroveci (P. carinii) isolates from rat.

Pneumocystis carinii is an extracellular protozoan which can cause pneumonia in individuals with compromised immune systems. Healthy individuals can harbor the organism in its latent stage from early on in life without displaying any symptoms. The organism becomes reactivated if the host's immune system is compromised.
