Store lyophilized/reconstituted at -20°C; once reconstituted make aliquots to avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Please remember to spin the tubes briefly prior to opening them to avoid any losses that might occur from material adhering to the cap or sides of the tube.
For reconstitution add 200 µL of sterile water.
Specific Species Reactivity: Arabidopsis thaliana, Chlamydomonas reinhardti, Hordeum vulgare, Pinus banksiana, Spinacia oleracea, Triticum aestivum
psbP encodes PsbP, a nucleus-encoded, chloroplast-targeted extrinsic photosystem II protein that localizes to the thylakoid lumen where it binds on the luminal surface of the photosystem II oxygen-evolving complex (water-oxidizing complex). The mature protein is soluble (not membrane-spanning) and adopts a compact, beta-sheet-rich fold as shown by high-resolution crystallography; it functions as part of the lumenal cap formed by extrinsic subunits that surround and protect the catalytic Mn4CaO5 cluster. Biologically, PsbP is required for efficient light-driven water splitting and oxygen evolution under physiological conditions by helping stabilize the oxygen-evolving center and promoting proper retention/optimization of essential inorganic cofactors (notably Ca2+ and Cl-) while also helping shield the catalytic site from the bulk lumen.
