PA1-727 detects Retinol Binding Protein 1 in rat samples.
PA1-727 has been successfully used in Western blot procedures. By Western blot, this antibody detects a ~21 kDa protein representing Retinol Binding Protein 1 in rat liver, lung, brain and testis samples.
PA1-727 immunizing peptide corresponds to amino acid residues 47-65 of rat RBP 1. This sequence is conserved across many species including mouse, human and bovine. This peptide (Cat. # PEP-285) is available for use in neutralization and control experiments.
This gene encodes the carrier protein involved in the transport of retinol (vitamin A alcohol) from the liver storage site to peripheral tissue. Vitamin A is a fat-soluble vitamin necessary for growth, reproduction, differentiation of epithelial tissues, and vision. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.
