TMEM31 is a gene that encodes a transmembrane protein with unknown function. It is located on the long arm of chromosome 5 in humans and is conserved across different species. While the specific function of TMEM31 is not well understood, studies have suggested that it may be involved in the regulation of autophagy, a process by which cells break down and recycle their own components.
