PA1-24881 detects Osteoprotegerin from mouse samples. PA1-24881 is expected to cross react with human (89% conserved) and rat (93% conserved) due to sequence homology.
PA1-24881 has been successfully used in neutralization, inhibition assays, and Western blot procedures. For Western blotting, use antibody in non-reducing conditions. The Neutralization Dose50 (ND50) for anti-mouse osteoprotegerin is 0.5-2 ug/ml in the presence of 0.1 ug/ml of soluble recombinant mouse OPG/Fc, using the TRAIL sensitive mouse L929 cytolytic assay.
The PA1-24881 immunogen is recombinant, full length mouse protein, expressed in mouse NSO cells.
The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the TNF-receptor superfamily. This protein is an osteoblast-secreted decoy receptor that functions as a negative regulator of bone resorption. This protein specifically binds to its ligand, osteoprotegerin ligand, both of which are key extracellular regulators of osteoclast development. Studies of the mouse counterpart also suggest that this protein and its ligand play a role in lymph-node organogenesis and vascular calcification. Alternatively spliced transcript variants of this gene have been reported, but their full length nature has not been determined.
