Store lyophilized/reconstituted at -20°C; once reconstituted make aliquots to avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Please remember to spin the tubes briefly prior to opening them to avoid any losses that might occur from material adhering to the cap or sides of the tube.
For reconstitution add 200 µL of sterile water.
Specific Species Reactivity: Arabidopsis thaliana
EF1G1 encodes a ubiquitously expressed, predominantly cytoplasmic protein that also partitions to the nucleus and associates with ribosome-rich compartments, functioning as the gamma subunit of the eukaryotic elongation factor 1 (eEF1) complex. The protein is a ~437 amino acid polypeptide with an N-terminal glutathione S-transferase-like module (GST-like fold) followed by a conserved C-terminal elongation factor 1 gamma domain, an architecture consistent with a scaffold/adaptor role within multi-protein assemblies. Biologically, EF1G1 contributes to translation elongation by participating in the eEF1 machinery that supports efficient delivery of aminoacyl-tRNAs to the ribosomal A site through regulation/organization of the eEF1 subunits; its GST-like region is proposed to help organize or stabilize multisubunit complexes, including those linking elongation factors with aminoacyl-tRNA synthetase assemblies, thereby coordinating high-throughput protein synthesis.
