Highest antigen sequence indentity to the following orthologs: Mouse (84%), Rat (84%).
This recombinant protein control fragment may be used for blocking experiments with the corresponding antibody, PA5-140287. In IHC/ICC and WB experiments, we recommend a 100x molar excess of the protein fragment control based on the concentration and the molecular weight. Pre-incubate the antibody-protein control fragment mixture for 30 min at room temperature.
RGS13 is the smallest member of the mammalian gene family, RGS (regulators of G protein-signaling) which are structural and functional homologues of yeast SST2 and C. elegans egl-10 proteins. RGS proteins attenuate G protein-mediated pathways by acting as GTPase-activating proteins (GAPs) for Ga subunits. RGS13 has been found most abundantly in human tonsil, thymus, lung, lymph node, and spleen. RGS13 regulate Gai, Gaq, and Gas coupled signaling cascades. It is a GTPase-activating protein for Gai and Gao. The protein blocks MAPK activity induced by Gai- or Gaq-coupled receptors. The protein also attenuates GTPase-deficient Gaq (GaqQL) mediated cAMP response element activation. The gene encoding for human RGS13 is localized on chromosome 1q31.2.
