What is the shelf life of my powdered media once I reconstitute it?
Expiration date of most Gibco reconstituted dry format media (AGT or DPM) has not been established; end users should assess performance and stability of this reconstituted media in a system that is relevant to their process. A dry format product (either DPM or AGT) will age upon storage and while we may not be able to detect which component(s) degrade since we can't measure every component, that doesn't mean that the reconstituted liquid will have the same stability as a fresh liquid made by direct weigh methods.
Galectin-3 Translocates to the Perinuclear Membranes and Inhibits Cytochrome c Release from the Mitochondria. A ROLE FOR SYNEXIN IN GALECTIN-3 TRANSLOCATION.

PubMed ID:11839755
'Galectin-3 is a multifunctional oncogenic protein found in the nucleus and cytoplasm and also the extracellular milieu. Although recent studies demonstrated an anti-apoptotic activity of galectin-3, neither the functional site nor the mechanism of how galectin-3 regulates apoptosis is known. In this study, we examined the subcellular localization of galectin-3 ... More
Functions of Transforming Growth Factor-beta Family Type I Receptors and Smad Proteins in the Hypertrophic Maturation and Osteoblastic Differentiation of Chondrocytes.
'We investigated the effects of bone morphogenetic protein (BMP)-2, a member of the transforming growth factor-beta superfamily, on the regulation of the chondrocyte phenotype, and we identified signaling molecules involved in this regulation. BMP-2 triggers three concomitant responses in mouse primary chondrocytes and chondrocytic MC615 cells. First, BMP-2 stimulates expression ... More
Vasohibin 2 is transcriptionally activated and promotes angiogenesis in hepatocellular carcinoma.

'Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) typically relies on angiogenesis for its malignant behavior, including growth and metastasis. Vasohibin 2 (VASH2) was previously identified as an angiogenic factor, but its role in tumorigenesis is unknown. Using quantitative PCR and western blot analyses, we found that VASH2 is overexpressed in HCC cells and tissues. ... More
Lentiviral vector production, titration, and transduction of primary neurons.
Authors:Ding B, Kilpatrick DL
Journal:
PubMed ID:23681623
'Lentiviral vectors have become very useful tools for transgene delivery. Based on their ability to transduce both dividing and nondividing cells and to produce long-term transgene expression, lentiviruses have found numerous applications in the biomedical sciences, including developmental neuroscience. This protocol describes how to prepare lentiviral vectors by calcium phosphate ... More
Evidence that the transmembrane biogenesis of aquaporin 1 is cotranslational in intact mammalian cells.

PubMed ID:11884383
Most polytopic membrane proteins are believed to integrate into the membrane of the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) cotranslationally. However, recent studies with Xenopus oocytes and dog pancreatic microsomes have suggested that this is not the case for human aquaporin 1 (AQP1). These experiments indicate that membrane-spanning segments (MSSs) 2 and 4 ... More
