In the protocol that accompanies Nunc 96 Deep Well Filter Plates, the vacuum pressure is measured in inches of mercury (in. HG). How do I convert that to millibar (mbar)?

29.936 in. HG equals 1.013 bars
So -5 to -10 in. Hg equals -170 to -340 mbar and -15 to -20 in. Hg equals -500 to -680 mbar

What vacuum device can I use with Nunc 96 Deep Well Filter Plates?

Any vacuum manifold (for 96-well microplates) with an inside depth of 4 cm or more should be fine.

Are the Nunc 96 Deep Well Filter Plates chemically resistant?

Yes. The polypropylene plate material naturally resists chemicals and organic solvents, as does the polyethylene terephthalate (PET) frit and glass fiber filter. For very strong chemicals, prolonged exposure times, and/or higher temperatures, we recommend that you test the plates with the chemical or solution in question.

Do I have to exactly follow the recommended protocol with Nunc 96 Deep Well Filter Plates?

The protocol is designed to be flexible, depending on customer needs and instrumentation. For example, certain steps can be performed with vacuum filtration, centrifugation, or positive pressure, with similar results. We do recommend that customers use our formulas for buffers and solutions, since they were optimized to produce superior results.
