TaqMan™ Roundup Ready™ Alfalfa Quantification Kit

The TaqMan™ Roundup Ready™ Alfalfa Quantification  Kit enables the simple and reliable real-time PCR quantification of Roundup Ready Alfalfa DNA in plant, food, and feed samples.

The Thermo Scientific™ TaqMan™ Roundup Ready™ Alfalfa Quantification Kit enables relative quantification of as little as 0.1% of Roundup Ready™ transgenic alfalfa with respect to total alfalfa in a sample.

The absolute limit of quantification is 20 copies of DNA, and the detection limit of the PCR technique is 5 copies each of Roundup Ready™ and alfalfa DNA.

The TaqMan™ Roundup Ready™ Alfalfa Quantification Kit includes:

• Primers and TaqMan™ probes for real-time PCR detection of the transgenic event characteristic of the alfalfa line J101 (MON-ØØ1Ø1-8) and J163 (MON-ØØ163-7) (Roundup Ready™ alfalfa) and the endogenous alfalfa gene, Acetyl CoA-carboxylase, known as Acc
• Roundup Ready™ Alfalfa Standard, a plasmid DNA quantitation standard containing J101, J163, and Acc targets
• DNA polymerase enzyme and other buffer components necessary for real-time PCR

The assay is compatible with Applied Biosystems™ QuantStudio 5™ and 7500 Fast real-time PCR systems.

Sample Preparation

DNA sample preparation is accomplished with the easy-to-use GMO Extraction Kit (Cat. No. 4466336). Using up to 20 g of sample rather than the smaller sample sizes accommodated by most other DNA isolation procedures minimizes sampling errors. The GMO Extraction Kit is compatible with raw and processed meat, as well as composite food samples.
