What happens when stem cell factor (SCF) binds to its receptor?

The interaction of SCF with its receptor SCFR (c-Kit) causes receptor dimerization followed by receptor phosphorylation on tyrosine residues in the cytoplasmic domain. This activates downstream signal transduction pathways involving PI-3 kinase/Akt, Src family kinase, Ras/MAP kinase, and Rac/JNK kinase. There are several tyrosine residues on c-Kit that are important in activation of downstream signal pathways:
[pTyr703]: Binds Grb2 and activates the Ras/MAPK pathway.
[pTyr730]: involved in PLC-gamma activation which leads to mitotic stimulation.
[pTyr936]: binds GRB2 and activates the Ras, Raf, and ERK1/2 signaling pathways.
