Gibco Geltrex Flex LDEV-Free hESC-Qualified Reduced Growth Factor Basement Membrane Matrix is a soluble form of basement membrane that is purified from Engelbreth-Holm-Swarm (EHS) tumor cells. The major components of Geltrex Flex matrix include laminin, collagen IV, entactin, and heparan sulfate proteoglycan.
Routinely used for attachment and maintenance of human embryonic stem cells (hESCs) and induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs), every lot of hESC-qualified Geltrex Flex matrix is quality control tested using hESCs and iPSCs to help ensure support of stem cell culture. For a neural induction of hESC and iPSC protocol, see Induction of Neural Stem Cells from Human Pluripotent User Guide (Pub. No. MAN0008031).
Features of Geltrex Flex LDEV-Free hESC-Qualified Reduced Growth Factor Basement Membrane Matrix
For the culture of primary cells, such as epithelial cells, endothelial cells, and smooth muscle cells, and angiogenesis assays, neurite outgrowth assays, or bile canaliculi formation assays with polarized hepatocytes, standard Geltrex Flex matrix can be used.
For the culture of tumoroids and other organoids, Geltrex Flex LDEV-Free Organoid-Qualified Reduced Growth Factor Basement Membrane Matrix is recommended. Each lot of organoid-qualified Geltrex Flex matrix is tested and supports the culture of mouse intestinal organoids, mouse liver ductal organoids, and mouse airway organoids, as well as expansion of mouse small intestinal organoids for more than five passages with typical organoid budding morphology.
