Thermo Scientific™ InstaPrep™ Buffered Peptone Water 10x is a concentrated enrichment medium designed for use in ISO-aligned microbiological workflows.
The product supports workflows in accordance with:
Each sterile, irradiated bag produces up to 100 L of ready-to-use media, enabling a closed, on-demand workflow that eliminates manual preparation steps while maintaining compliance with microbiological standards.
Product Features
Buffered Peptone Water provides conditions for the resuscitation and multiplication of stressed or sub-lethally injured bacteria present in low numbers in food samples. This step improves the likelihood of recovering Salmonella spp. before selective enrichment.
In addition to its role in Salmonella recovery, Buffered Peptone Water has been validated for use in workflows involving other bacteria, including Escherichia coli, Listeria monocytogenes, Staphylococcus aureus, and Cronobacter spp., in accordance with ISO 11133:2014 and ISO 22964:2017.
The InstaPrep™ BPW 10x Concentrate format with filter is designed for reconstitution with Type 2 water via the integrated 0.2μm bacterial filter of the sealed bag system. The InstaPrep™ BPW 10x Concentrate format without filter is designed for reconstitution with Type 2 water using an external 0.2 µm bacterial filter. The filter must be ordered separately and attached prior to use (Cat. No. DB0200A, Dry-Bag Reusable Filter, for use with bags without filter). Each compact 10 L hydrated bag delivers 100 L of final medium, reducing storage requirements, packaging waste, and manual handling.
Each InstaPrep™ BPW media bag is gamma irradiated to support microbiological quality of the sealed format and eliminate the need for autoclaving prior to use, and is designed for on-demand hydration using purified laboratory water suitable for culture media preparation (e.g., Type 2 water such as freshly produced deionized/RO/DI water, or distilled water) through an integrated 0.2μm bacterial filter.
When connected to the InstaDose™ Gravimetric Diluter, the system delivers BPW in a sterile, closed, on-demand workflow, optimizing sustainability, productivity, and cost efficiency in laboratory operations.
Sample Preparation
Used as pre-enrichment media for food microbiology workflows, supporting recovery of microorganisms prior to detection.
Part of a Suite
Compatible with InstaDose™ InstaFill™ tubing, and accessories.
Storage
Unopened InstaPrep™ BPW Bags should be stored at 10–30°C, protected from light and excessive humidity, until the expiry date indicated on the product label. Prior to hydration, bags should be brought to room temperature. Hydrated bags must be used within 14 days of preparation and kept away from light until first use. Once in-use, they should be used within 5 days.
