When would I use the FluxOR Red Potassium Ion Channel Assay in lieu of the FluxOR II Green Potassium Ion Channel Assay?

The FluxOR Red Potassium Ion Channel Assay is recommended for cells that are expressing GFP or related fluorescent proteins or with cells that have high autofluorescence in the green emission channel.

How is the FluxOR Red Potassium Ion Channel Assay different from the original FluxOR assay?

The FluxOR II assay utilizes an improved thallium-sensitive fluorogenic indicator dye that results in a larger signal window and a significant improvement in the sensitivity of the assay.

Which color FluxOR II assay should I use?

The FluxOR II Green Potassium Ion Channel Assay can be used with common FITC filter settings and the FluxOR Red Potassium Ion Channel Assay can be used with standard TRITC filter settings. For cells that are expressing GFP or have high autofluorescence in the green emission range, FluxOR Red is an alternative. If cells are expressing dsRED, mCherry or other red-emitting fluorescent proteins or exhibit high autofluorescence in the red emission range, FluxOR II Green is an excellent option.
