Phosphate-buffered saline (PBS, 10X), is an isotonic, non-toxic to most cells and is used in biological research. It is associated with ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) and used to disengage attached and clumped cells. It also helps to maintain a constant pH.
