          SOD1 Antibody (MA1-105) in ICC/IF

Immunofluorescence analysis of SOD1 was performed using 70% confluent log phase HeLa cells. The cells were fixed with 4% paraformaldehyde for 10 minutes, permeabilized with 0.1% Triton™ X-100 for 10 minutes, and blocked with 2% BSA for 1 hour at room temperature. The cells were labeled with SOD1 (8B10) Mouse Monoclonal Antibody (Product # MA1-105) at 2 µg/mL in 0.1% BSA and incubated for 3 hours at room temperature and then labeled with Goat anti-Mouse IgG (H+L) Superclonal™ Secondary Antibody, Alexa Fluor® 488 conjugate (Product # A28175)... Product Specific Information

MA1-105 detects SOD1 in human and mouse samples and has been successfully used in Western blot, immunohistochemistry, immunocytochemistry and immunofluorescence applications.

          Target Information

SOD1 (superoxide dismutase) binds copper and zinc ions and is one of two isozymes responsible for destroying free superoxide radicals in the body. This isozyme is a soluble cytoplasmic protein, acting as a homodimer to convert naturally-occuring but harmful superoxide radicals to molecular oxygen and hydrogen peroxide. The other isozyme is a mitochondrial protein. Mutations in this gene have been implicated as causes of familial amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. Rare transcript variants have been reported for this gene.
