ALKBH5 Antibody (MA5-51412) in WB
Western blot analysis of ALKBH5 in various lysates. Samples were incubated with ALKBH5 Recombinant monoclonal antibody (Product # MA5-51412) using a dilution of 1:10,000 followed by HRP Goat Anti-Rabbit IgG (H+L) secondary antibody at a dilution of 1:10,000. Lysates/proteins: 25 µg per lane. Blocking buffer: 3% nonfat dry milk in TBST. Detection: ECL Basic Kit. Exposure time: 30s.

ALKBH5 (RNA demehtylase ALKBH5) is a dioxygenase that demethylates RNA by oxidative demethylation. Specifically, it demethylates N(6)-methyladenosine (m6A) RNA, the most prevalent internal modification of messenger RNA (mRNA) in higher eukaryotes. Demethylation of m6A mRNA affects mRNA processing and export. ALKBH5 can also demethylate N(6)-methyladenosine in single-stranded DNA (in vitro). It requires molecular oxygen, alpha-ketoglutarate and iron.
