Dibutyl phthalate (DBP) is a commonly used plasticizer that is added to various consumer products to increase their flexibility and durability. It is a clear, colorless liquid with a slightly sweet odor and is primarily used in the production of plastics, especially PVC. DBP is also found in adhesives, printing inks, sealants, and personal care products such as nail polish and hair sprays. It is known to be toxic to aquatic life and may also have adverse effects on human health, particularly on the reproductive system.
