Please note: We are reviewing Western blot images included in the antibody testing data in our catalog, including those provided by third parties. Unless expressly labeled or annotated as “raw-unedited”, Western blot images included in the antibody testing data in our catalog may have been edited, optimized or otherwise adjusted for presentation.
Positive control: MCF7 cell lysate, HEK-293 cell lysate, Jurkat cell lysate, Mouse brain tissue lysate, Mouse heart tissue lysate, Rat brain tissue lysate, Rat heart tissue lysate.
Subcellular location: Mitochondrion outer membrane, Membrane.
VDAC1, VDAC2, and VDAC3 genes encode for voltage-dependent anion channels (VDACs) which are integral membrane proteins located in the outer mitochondrial membrane. VDAC1 is the most prominent of the three and is involved in the regulation of metabolic and energetic cross-talk between mitochondria and the rest of the cell. VDAC2 and VDAC3 share structural similarities with VDAC1 but differ in their expression patterns and regulatory functions. VDAC channels are crucial for the transport of ions and metabolites, including ATP and ADP, across the mitochondrial membrane and thus play a central role in cellular energy metabolism and apoptosis.
