The BOLF1 gene in Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV) encodes for a protein that plays a role in the viral lifecycle, particularly in the lytic phase of infection. This protein is involved in the viral replication process and may have functions in modulating host cell responses to infection. The BOLF1 protein might also be involved in the assembly of viral particles and could interact with other viral or host proteins to facilitate the exit of viral particles from the host cell.
