IL-18 Antibody (PA5-79480) in WB
Western blot was performed using Anti-IL-18 Polyclonal Antibody (Product # PA5-79480) and a 22 kDa band corresponding to Interleukin-18 was observed in RAW 264.7 and not in Neuro-2a which is reported to be negative. Two non-specific bands around 30 kDa and 80 kDa was also observed in cell lines tested. The protein encoded by this gene is a proinflammatory cytokine. This cytokine can induce the IFN-gamma production of T cells. The combination of this cytokine and IL12 has been shown to inhibit IL4 dependent IgE and IgG1 production, and enhance IgG2a production of B cells. IL-18 binding protein can specifically interact with this cytokine, and thus negatively regulate its biological activity.
