Antibody detects endogenous levels of total TAS2R12.
TAS2R41 is a receptor that may play a role in the perception of bitterness and belongs to the G-protein receptor superfamily. TAS2R41 is expressed mainly in taste receptor cells of the tongue and the palate eptithelia. Structurally, the TAS2R41 gene encodes a seven trans-membrane receptor protein and is clustered together with eight other taste receptor genes on chromosome 7. The compound chloramphenicol is an agonist for the TAS2R41 protein. Further, TAS2R41 may play a role in sensing the chemical composition of the gastrointestinal content. The activity of TAS2R41 may stimulate alpha gustducin, mediate PLC-beta-2 activation and lead to the gating of TRPM5. TAS2R41 is expressed in subsets of taste receptor cells of the tongue and exclusively in gustducin-positive cells. Most taste cells may be activated by a limited number of bitter compounds; individual taste cells can discriminate among bitter stimuli.
