Product features

  • Flexibility—use for native and denaturing protein assays
  • Fast run conditions—quickly separate your proteins using constant voltage in less than 60 minutes
  • Wedge-shaped wells—for easier sample loading and up to two times higher sample volume

Run your proteins in native or denatured form

Novex Tris-Glycine Plus gels do not contain SDS and so can be used to separate proteins in a native or denatured state. For denatured proteins, we recommend using Novex Tris-Glycine SDS Sample Buffer (LC2676) and Novex Tris-Glycine SDS Running Buffer (LC26754). For native proteins, we recommend using Novex Tris-Glycine Native Sample Buffer (LC2673) and Novex Tris-Glycine Native Running Buffer (LC2672). The gels can be run in the SureLock Tandem Midi Gel Tank (STM1001) or XCell4 SureLock Midi-Cell (WR0100).

For transfer of proteins to a membrane, we recommend using the Novex Tris-Glycine Transfer Buffer (LC3675) when performing traditional wet transfer with the SureLock Tandem Midi Blot Module (STM2001). Rapid semi-dry transfer can be done using the Invitrogen Power Blotter or rapid dry transfer using the iBlot 3 Gel Transfer Device (IB31001).

Convenient to use

Novex Tris-Glycine Plus WedgeWell format gels have innovative wedge-shaped wells that allow up to two times more sample load volume than other 1.0 mm-thick gels. The wedge-shaped wells also have larger openings which make sample loading easier.

Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

What are the recommended maximum sample loading volumes for the new WedgeWell format holds for the midi gels?

For the 12+2 well large gels, the maximum sample loading volume is 100 µL. For the 12+2 well small gels, the maximum sample loading volume is 90 µL. For 20 well gels, the maximum sample loading volume is 60 µL and for the 26 well gels, the maximum sample loading volume is 40 µL.

Can Tris-Glycine Plus Midi Gels be stored at room temperature?

No. They must be stored at 4 degrees C.

Do Tris-Glycine Plus Midi Gels require any specific buffers?

Tris-Glycine Plus Midi Gels can use standard Tris-Glycine sample and running buffers. If you want to run under native conditions, we recommend using sample and running buffers that do not contain SDS (or our Native Tris-Glycine premade buffers).

What in the chemistry changed to allow for a longer shelf life for Tris-Glycine Plus Midi Gels?

We were able to optimize shelf life of the gels through a proprietary gel formulation change. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide specific details on the chemical changes.

What is the shelf life of Tris-Glycine Plus Midi Gels?

Tris-Glycine Plus Midi Gels have a shelf life of up to 1 year depending upon gel percentages. The minimum shelf life of these gels is at least 6 months from date of manufacture.
