Histochemical stain for chromosomesSudan Black B is used as a biological stain for lipids. It is a basic black dye utilized in staining triglycerides and lipids off some lipoproteins. Further, it is used in the fingerprint enhancement as well as for detecting fats. In addition to this, it is used in the study of hematological disorders.

Applications

Solubility
Soluble in oils, fats, warm petrolatum, paraffin, phenol, ethanol, acetone, benzene, toluene and hydrocarbon. Insoluble in water.
