Sodium citrate is commonly used in nucleic acid hybridization techniques at concentrations ranging from 0.1X to 20X depending on the application.  It is used to facilitate transfer of nucleic acids to membranes in southern and northern blotting, dot blotting, and colony and plaque lifts.

20X SSC Solution (RNase-free) should be stored at room temperature. This reagent should remain stable for at least 1 year in its unopened container.
