PA1-5827 detects Lamin C in human, rat and mouse samples.
PA1-5827 has been successfully used in immunofluorescence, Western blot and immunohistochemistry procedures. PA1-5827 reacts strongly in immunoblotting with fragments corresponding to peptide 319-572aa of Lamin C. When tested against nuclear protein extracts from HeLa cells it reacts with a single band migrating at 65 kDa.
The PA1-5827 immunogen is a synthetic peptide corresponding to the N-terminal residues K-HHVSGSRR of human lamin C, coupled to KLH.
Lamin C is intermediate filament protein localized to the inner nuclear membrane. It is expressed predominantly in terminally differentiated cells and defines the shape and stability of nuclei in mammalian cells. Besides their structural roles, lamin proteins also regulate fundamental aspects of nuclear function and they cross-talk with cell signaling cascades and cell metabolism. Mutations of LMNA gene, encoding lamin A and C proteins, are often associated with pathogenesis of respective cell types, such as of heart myocytes.
