Electrodynamic ion funnel (EDIF)

Radio frequency (RF) device, optimized for labile compounds, efficiently captures ions as they leave the High-Capacity Transfer Tube (HCTT). Automatic tuning results in broad ion transmission curves with reduced ion losses and increased sensitivity.

EASY-ETD option

Fast and sensitive alternative fragmentation Electron Transfer Dissociation (ETD) generated from fluoranthene radical anions. The townsend discharge provides extremely stable and robust ionization. The EASY-ETD option is compact and contained entirely within the footprint of the instrument.

Intact Protein mode and fast and sensitive alternative fragmentation

With application mode ‘Intact Protein’ (unique to BioPharma Edition), the pressure regimes inside the Ion-Routing Multipole (low, standard and high) can be selected for best performance with native and denaturing conditions.

 

ETD and EThcD fragmentation occur in the ion routing multipole followed by detection in the Orbitrap mass analyzer.

 

The EThcD combination provides b- and y-type and c- and z-type fragment ions in a single Orbitrap spectrum.
