Dialysis Tubing |
Dialysis tubing is a semi-permeable membrane used in laboratories to separate small molecules, such as salts and solvents, from larger macromolecules like proteins. Traditional dialysis tubes are pre-formed, but flat and designed for use in various applications. SnakeSkin dialysis tubing is an easy, ready-to-use form of traditional dialysis membrane tubing. Composed of regenerated cellulose dialysis tubing, it is supplied as an open, pleated, cylindrical tube. It offers a convenient and efficient solution for dialysis, allowing researchers to purify protein samples by removing unwanted small molecules while retaining the target macromolecules.
SnakeSkin dialysis tubing is a ready-to-use pleated tube, supplied in 8-inch (20 cm) sticks that contain 35 feet of tubing of various internal diameters (16 mm, 22 mm, and 35 mm) and holds 2–10 mL of sample per centimeter of length. Dialysis tubing pore size is expressed in terms of molecular weight cutoff (MWCO) and SnakeSkin Dialysis Tubing is available in MWCO of 3.5, 7, and 10 kDa. They can be used for desalting and buffer exchange of 10–100 mL sample volumes.
To use, pull out and cut off the required length of tubing, fold over one end of tubing, close this end with a dialysis clip, add sample at the open end, and use a second clip to close the remaining end.
