Small molecule bioanalysis

Small molecule bioanalysis is the precise chemical measurement of low molecular weight compounds, typically under 900 Daltons, within complex biological matrices like serum or plasma. These small molecules, which include many traditional pharmaceuticals, play a crucial role in regulating biological processes. Throughout the drug development lifecycle, from preclinical studies to clinical trials, accurate and reliable bioanalysis is essential for quantifying drug concentrations and metabolites in biological samples.

Liquid chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry has become the gold standard for small molecule bioanalysis, offering the sensitivity, selectivity, and reproducibility needed to meet stringent regulatory requirements and deliver confident results.

Sensitive quantitation of antisense oligonucleotides in plasma using high-resolution, accurate-mass (HRAM) mass spectrometry

As antisense oligonucleotide (ASO) therapeutics gain momentum, the need for reliable, high-sensitivity quantitation methods are growing. This application note demonstrates an IPRP-LC-HRAM-MS workflow using the Thermo Scientific Vanquish Horizon UHPLC and Thermo Scientific Orbitrap Exploris 120 MS for accurate ASO analysis in human plasma.

Automated sample preparation for protein quantitation

Automated sample preparation is a valuable tool in the bioanalysis of proteins because it ensures consistency and reproducibility of the digestion, increases efficiency and throughput, enhances precision and accuracy, saves time, and preserves sample integrity. By minimizing human error and handling multiple samples simultaneously, automation significantly improves the quality and reliability of protein quantitation, making it a critical component in modern bioanalytical workflows.

A fast and simple immuno-mass spectrometry method for preclinical bioanalysis for IgG1 mAb

An automated Protein digest for IgG1 mAb method was assessed for linearity, accuracy and precision. Compared with traditional immuno-mass spectrometry, this workflow avoids frequent sample transferring, protein denaturation, reduction/alkylation, and the subsequent solid-phase extraction step, shortening the original 2-day protocol to 4 hours with minimal hands-on preparation.
