Ca2+ 离子载体 A-23187 通常用于荧光 Ca2+ 指示剂的原位校准、平衡细胞内外 Ca2+ 浓度以及便于 Mn2+ 进入细胞而使细胞内染料荧光淬灭。虽然 A-23197 的内源性荧光很强,无法与紫外光可激发的 fura-2、indo-1 和 quin-2 等钙指示剂配合使用,但是它适合与可见光可激发的 fluo-4、fluo-3、Calcium Green 和 rhod-2 等指示剂配合使用。A-23187 也可用于平衡细胞内外 Mg2+ 浓度,使其适用于校准 Mg2+ 指示剂。
