We offer cloning services for de novo genes synthesized by the GeneArt services team. Selecting a vector is key to experimental design. Once we synthesize your gene, we offer several options for vector delivery designed to provide you with maximum flexibility and fast delivery.

Vector options for synthesized genes

We offer four options to clone your synthesized genes for delivery.

  • Basic vectors: A shuttle vector for fast delivery that requires subcloning into your desired vector upon receipt.
  • Direct cloning vectors: Choose from our catalog of popular direct cloning vectors for fast delivery and a plasmid that is ready to use upon receipt.
  • Subcloning vectors: Choose from our extended catalog of vectors for a plasmid that is ready to use upon receipt. Subcloning into these vectors requires additional production time.
  • Custom vectors: Onboard your favorite vector with us once and use it for receiving synthesized genes now and in the future.

Direct cloning into an expression-ready vector

Direct cloning using expression-ready vectors involves inserting your gene of interest directly into a vector that is pre-designed for gene expression. These vectors come equipped with necessary regulatory elements such as promoters, enhancers, and antibiotic resistance markers, allowing for immediate expression of the cloned gene in the host organism. This method streamlines the cloning process by eliminating the need for additional subcloning steps, making it fast and efficient for producing recombinant proteins or studying gene function.

For direct cloning, genes must be <5 kb and without complex sequences. Save up to six days of turnaround time with direct cloning into one of a growing list of popular vectors suitable for a range of applications including Gateway cloning, recombinant antibody expression, and expression of proteins in mammalian, bacterial, insect, yeast, or cell-free systems.

Pro tip: To optimize your gene sequence, reduce complexity, and maximize protein expression levels, use the Invitrogen GeneArt GeneOptimizer algorithm.

For faster delivery of your cloned, expression-ready genes, opt for Express delivery and Super Speed service.

Invitrogen vectors for subcloning

For downstream applications, synthesized genes can be cloned into commercially available Invitrogen vectors, such as Gateway vectors.

Use our Gene Synthesis vector selection tool to choose the right vector

Pro tip:If you don’t see a vector for selection from the drop-down in the classic ordering portal, you can purchase a commercially available Invitrogen vector and send it to us.
